Buy Local, Buy Fair

While there are 300 to 400 Fair Trade Towns in Europe, there are only eight here in America. Of the eight here in the United States, three of them: Brattelboro, Vermont; Amherst and Northampton, MA are right in our backyard and Greenfield maybe the next. In 2007 Pioneer Valley Local First joined the Northampton Fair Trade Coalition and ended up playing a key role in helping Northampton become the 6TH Fair Trade Town in the country. We look forward to continuing to promote Fair Trade Products in the Pioneer Valley.

In Northampton we are calling our campaign "Buy Local, Buy Fair;" the idea being to encourage people to buy fair trade products from locally owned stores. This way we can take care of the world and ourselves at the same time. While not locally owned, we do want to thank and recognize Ten Thousand Villages for their commitment to promoting Fair Trade products both here in Northampton and across the country. To find local businesses selling Fair Trade products, please go to Northampton Fair Trade to see their local shopping guide. If your business is not listed yet, please let Northampton Fair Trade know and you will be added. There is currently no charge to be listed.
